Susan G. Komen...Race for a Cure
As many in our church family may or may not know, April is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Recently, our church family has had a member who was personally affected by this terrible disease, which made it all the more real for all of us that love and care about her. In addition, there have been many in our church that have likewise had their lives touched by this disease. We are very proud of all the survivors in our church family and celebrate all their achievements in overcoming this disease.
Several of Valeria's family members have organized a team for the upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure. It is being held on the campus of Meredith College (Valeria's alma mater) on June 11, 2011. We are raising money to find a cure for breast cancer soon. We would like to open this opportunity to the church family to contribute to this cause. As Valeria herself said, “this is not for me, it is for the girls and women of the future.” So, soon they will not have to battle this disease and all the lives it will affect.
If anyone would like to contribute to this cause, the web site is:
www.susang.komenraceforcurenctriangleaffiliate.com.
After getting to the web page, go to "get involved" and find our team. We are "Val's Pals" and we have already surpassed our goal, but we truly would love to raise more money to fight this disease. We also welcome anyone that would like to join us in Raleigh on June 11, 2011 to walk/run. If anyone would like more information they may talk to any members of the team (Miriam Ledford, Vickie Daughtry, Susan Powell). We are proud to say that we have cousins coming from Virginia and Maryland to run in this race. We are very excited about doing all we can to bring about an end to breast cancer.
Thank you for your help in this matter and your support!

Treasured Friends Update
We had a great time at Jubilee in Gatlinburg, TN. Listening to Drs. Charles Stanley and Johnny Hunt were encouraging and inspirational. The music was great and the gift of laughter was shared by all.
More pictures can be found on our webpage under ministries and adults.
This month Treasured Friends will enjoy the Christmas Show at the Duplin Winery. The food is good and the fellowship is wonderful. November 13th is the day—it promises to be another great outing!
Special thanks to Ms. Iris Aldridge who, as a labor of love, schedules and plans all our Treasured Friends outings!
